Guild Wars 2 Item Upgrade
Item upgrade, also referred to as "upping," improves an item's stats. Each upgrade increment boosts the stats linearly.
Players can recycle up to six items at a time in order to gain a level gauge for each of the item's upgraded components. The cost of recycling items scales according to their rarity and level.
Upgrade components
In Guild Wars 2, an upgrade to an item is a method to increase the stats of your armor and weapons. This can be accomplished by many different methods such as using upgrade components and increasing an item's mark level or rarity. Many items can also be reforged in order to increase their stats.
Upgradable items can be found in the game, both within the world and as rewards for missions. They can also be crafted by players. Upgrade components are the main method to upgrade equipment. These are items that can slot into equipment. Most equipment has upgrade slots, and most require a certain level of upgrade. Some upgrade components provide specific bonuses, while others offer general bonuses.
There are many types of upgrade components that are available in the game. These include universal upgrades, inscriptions and jewels. Universal upgrades, such as gemstones and enchantments can be put in any equipment type and offer fewer bonuses than those that are equipment type specific. Glyphs can only be found in gathering tools. They provide a variety bonuses, from increasing the speed at which an item gathers to providing additional crafting materials.
Select the item in your inventory, then open the Upgrade window. The preview will be displayed on the right side of the screen. It will show the expected statistics after the upgrade. The Upgrade button at the bottom will show Blocked if you don't have enough of either.
The upper-right corner shows the amount of upgrade components required for the specific item. The cost of an upgrade increases depending on the level of the upgrade and its rarity, but it can be reduced through many different ways, such as purchasing upgrades at a merchant or trading them with other players.
Most weapons can be upgraded by the use of a prefix upgrade, such as an insignia or rune. Many are upgraded by a suffix upgrade. These upgrades include an adjective in the item's name for example "Radiant" or "Minor Vigor".
Glyphs
Glyphs are an effective tool for communicating visual information. They are animated to grab the attention of the viewer and stimulate interest in the brain. The animation of glyphs mimics the body language and makes them more effective in transmitting the message of a language barrier. Glyphs also evoke a sense of familiarity in the brain, which increases retention of the message.
Each glyph can increase a stat's value by a certain range. This is clearly displayed on the item, when you open it in the Glyph Storage. This isn't the actual amount by which glyphs can improve a stat, but the maximum amount it can increase a stat. The actual value of the glyph is determined by the tier and quality of the item you are creating it for.
Most upgrade components inserted into items can't be repaired or replaced without removing the gear in question, unless it is legendary equipment and upgrades. If you have a glyph or rune you don't want to use, but it's not been applied to the gear yet, you can transfer the item to another piece by using the Upgrade Glyphs menu in the Glyphs Panel. This will create a new Glyph Set with the selected glyph.
If you wish to remove the glyph from an item you must save it using the help of a Black Lion Salvage Kit or Ascended Salvage Tool. The item on which the glyph is installed will be destroyed, but the upgraded item can be recovered with the glyph shards.
Adding a glyph to an item can cause it to become unstable, and the shards of that glyph will disappear from your inventory once you remove the item. You can also place a glyph on your equipment to give it a bonus. For example, the glyph Deferred Damage can store damage for the wearer and deal it slowly rather than all at once. This is beneficial for those who take lots of damage from their enemies however do not want to be overwhelmed.
Reroll tokens
Reroll tokens are used to alter the affixes that are placed on weapons and equipment. They can be obtained from many sources, such as mystery boxes or rare drops from skulled monsters or by killing bosses. Each reroll token gives the player a new random affix, which is usually better than the original one. Reroll tokens can be used to boost the weapon's stats to increase damage or bonuses.
Rerolled items are not listed in the menu of upgrade options, but they can be upgraded. If you click the "upgrade button", you can recycle the rerolled items. This will alter the design of the item's window, and allow up to six items be selected for recycling. The gauge of level is increased by recycling an item. The amount is by the rarity of the item and also its level. Therefore, higher-leveled items are more valuable to recycle than lower-leveled ones.
In addition to reroll tokens players can also make use of Star Remnants and Reroll Tokens to reroll the Weapon Traits of an upgraded unit. Rerolls roll the % chance of a particular weapon trait; if it rolls higher, the weapon is upgraded. If it rolls lower, it remains the same. Weapons can be upgraded up to three times.
A reroll is a good option for upgrading an item, but users must be aware that it could reduce the overall ilvl the weapon by the number of rerolls needed to increase the weapon to its ultimate ilvl. This lowering effect is most effective with Diadems and ring items that do not have any other options for raising ilvls.
item upgrades have complained that the reroll system is expensive. It would be fairer to allow people to pay for it using money or food items which would allow them to make changes to their builds without having to spend too much time. However the paid rerolls aren't something the developers want to incorporate at this point in the game's development. Instead, they're planning to include an ability to change races in the future.
Leveling

There are many ways to increase the level of an upgrade to an item. The first is to increase the amount of upgrade which boosts the upgrade value of any stat. The alternative is to increase the effect of the upgrade, which increases the damage or healing of a stat. The base item can be upgraded to a more advanced upgrade type. The new item will retain its iLevel but have the upgraded effects of the upgraded item.
It is important to remember that upgrades are random. Most of the time the best roll will come from the glyphs, but there are also possibilities for more or unique rolls. The item type will also determine the iLevel. If you upgrade a unique or rare item to a specific item type, it has a chance of receiving a higher level.
Upgrading items can be costly, particularly when you're upgrading a piece of gear from the normal to the legendary track. The price will be based on the item's base iLevel and the amount of upgrade levels it comes with. Some upgrade tracks also require crests to be completed in order to move on to the next level.
If you're fortunate, your upgraded item may reach the maximum level on its upgrade track, and thus unlock an additional benefit. This will provide a significant boost in the upgrade value of the item. The bonus effect will vary with each upgrade level, however. Generally speaking the upgrade effect is increased by a value of +3.
The iLevel can also change according to the upgrade path and base level. For instance the weapon that has been upgraded from a rare or unique item to a rare or exceptional item is likely to be upgraded to the enhanced defense of the new base item type.
